Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Mechanical Discipline Lead to drive the mechanical engineering discipline within our UK water framework. You will report to the Engineering Manager and steer technical direction, ensuring high quality deliverables and effective problem solving with the client.

You will engage with client stakeholders, coordinate resources across the framework, and help deliver AMP8 priorities while mentoring junior staff and contributing to capability development across the team.

Qualifications

• Chartered Status (CEng) with a recognised Professional Institution.
• Proven ability to lead a portfolio of technical projects with QA/standards.
• Demonstrable experience in infra and non-infra mechanical design.
• Strong communication across multi-disciplinary teams.
• Drive to stay updated on professional development and tech solutions.
• Good understanding of designers' responsibilities under CDM.
• Willing to travel regularly for client meetings.

Responsibilities

• Accountable for technical quality of deliverables and staff competency.
• Challenge client technical standards and manage deviations as needed.
• Ensure discipline duties under CDM are fulfilled as Designer.
• Coordinate Mechanical resources with design managers and leads.
• Develop relationships with client technical stakeholders and keep regular contact.
