Job summary

Mott MacDonald Bentley is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical design of water and wastewater projects in the UK. You will oversee design work across project lifecycles, mentor teams, and coordinate with multi-disciplinary engineers to deliver robust, compliant solutions.

Based in Glasgow, this permanent, full-time role focuses on delivering efficient, safe, and sustainable infrastructure for communities while aligning with client standards and industry best practices.

Qualifications

• Chartered Mechanical Engineer or equivalent.
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Strong knowledge of water/wastewater industry.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Proven ability to manage multiple design tasks and meet deadlines.
• Ability to mentor junior engineers and work with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee mechanical design aspects of projects.
• Provide technical guidance to engineers and project teams.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers and team members.
• Lead development of mechanical design for water and wastewater infrastructure.
• Coordinate with Electrical, Civil, Geotech and Process engineers.
• Ensure client asset standards and best practices are applied.
• Collaborate with commercial, operations and construction teams.
• Engage with the client and manage relationships.
