Job summary

Mott MacDonald Bentley, a UK-led design and build specialist, is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical design across water and wastewater projects in the UK.

You will mentor junior engineers, coordinate withElectrical, Civil, Geotech and Process teams, and ensure compliance with asset standards while delivering safe, practical solutions.

Qualifications

• Chartered Mechanical Engineer or above.
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• Strong knowledge of the water and/or wastewater industry.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, practices, and standards relating to process industries.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Proven ability to manage multiple design tasks and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, planning and execution of mechanical engineering across projects.
• Provide technical guidance to mechanical engineers and project teams.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers and team members.
• Develop mechanical design for water and wastewater infrastructure through lifecycle (P&IDs, valve schedules, pumps, tanks, process equipment, above ground pipework, lifting and access steelwork).
• Coordinate with Electrical, Civil, Geotech and Process engineers.
• Ensure applications of client’s asset standards and discuss best practice and waivers.
• Collaborate with commercial, operational and construction teams for safe, practical solutions.
