The Opportunity:

As a Principal, Fund Accounting, you will be in a senior leadership position responsible for the oversight of the departmental operations of the fund accounting and fund operations, including team management and oversight of firm initiatives as it relates to accounting and reporting matters. In this specific role, you will specialize in open-ended fund products, domiciled globally and within the US, investing into private markets. You will be expected to be a key resource for internal and external stakeholders on shareholder dealing, regulatory filing, and complex accounting matters related to open-ended funds.

Your responsibilities will be to:
  • Oversee annual audits and other teamwide reporting or compliance matters
  • Manage 40 Act filings with the SEC and regulatory filings in jurisdictions such as Luxembourg with the CSSF
  • Streamline reporting across open ended and closed ended funds to gain efficiencies across the entire HL fund population
  • \
  • Perform meaningful analytic review of key metrics related to reporting
  • Lead or participate in complex structuring, reporting or jurisdiction discussions as it impacts fund operations, including feeders and share class in multiple currencies
  • Review and final approval of annual and quarterly financial statements, tables, and footnotes
  • Implement and oversee accounting processes and system of internal controls completed by internal staff and outside resources
  • Ensure continuous improvement of processes surrounding the financial reporting process
  • Oversee the review and approval processes for management fee and partnership expenses calculations and invoices
  • Manage third party administrators and vendor relationships pertaining to fund vehicles
  • Final review and approval of accounting positions in memos
  • Review valuations of investments and present conclusions to valuation committees
  • Develop and monitor annual department budget and forecasts
  • Present functional capabilities to clients and prospects, contribute to operational best practices and quality reporting of net asset value balances
  • Manage, coach, and develop reporting staff.
Your background will include:
  • Undergraduate degree in a related field with graduate degree strongly preferred
  • CPA/CA strongly preferred, or equivalent professional certification (ex: CFA)
  • 12+ years of experience in fund accounting, with specific experience in open-ended funds and private markets
  • Previous leadership of a fund accounting team
  • A comprehensive understanding of carried interest terms and calculations
  • Accomplished at financial statement preparation and presentation
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills and interdepartmental relationship-building skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Detail oriented and organized with excellent analytical skills
