Primary Teacher
SEN School, Andover
Full-time, Temp to Perm position

Academics are recruiting on behalf of a residential SEN school in Andover which caters for young people aged 11-19 years with Autism or who have strong emotional / behavioural traits of the Autistic Spectrum, typically high functioning Autism (Asperger Syndrome) and other associated needs such as ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia and social, emotional and mental health needs. All young people in the school will have an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP).

They are looking for an experienced Primary Teacher to join them on a full-time, Temp to Perm contract, starting ASAP.
They have set up a new provision for pupils in KS3 and KS4 who are learning at primary age level. Due to this, it would be ideal for a Primary trained or Primary experienced Teacher, with SEN experience.

The successful SEN Teacher / Primary Teacher will be required to plan and deliver lessons to a small class of students with complex learning needs. Experience of working in an SEN school would be an advantage, although not essential. You would need to have experience of teaching children with SEN either in an SEN or mainstream setting, ideally Autism/Aspergers Syndrome.

The suitable SEN Teacher will possess an understanding, empathetic and calm nature. You must be able to build positive relationships and have the ability to tailor your lessons to meet the individual needs of the students, in line with their individualised learning and care plans. These plans allow each student to have access to a challenging, broad, relevant and differentiated curriculum that is designed to be Asperger Syndrome friendly.

The main school building is a large country house set in 8 acres of grounds which provide a beautiful and secure setting for outdoor activities. Ideally suited to a driver due to the rural location in Grateley, Andover.

Students here have access to a broad and balanced curriculum which extends throughout the waking day. A significant part of the learning process is catered for after school, structured activities. They aim to teach self-management through the provision of a range of strategies that allow students to develop their strengths and manage their difficulties successfully.
