Job Description

Teaching Personnel is seeking a full-time Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in a welcoming primary school in Burnley. The position is to start as soon as possible and will involve providing one-to-one and small-group support for children with additional learning, communication, and behavioural needs.

This is a rewarding opportunity for an individual who is patient, supportive, and dedicated to helping children overcome barriers to learning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEND
  • Assist with the delivery of targeted interventions
  • Promote positive behaviour, engagement, and emotional well-being
  • Support communication, social interaction, and personal development
  • Work collaboratively with the class teacher and SENDCo
  • Record and monitor pupil progress as required
Requirements
  • Previous experience working with children (particularly in SEND, care, or support roles)
  • Calm, empathetic and proactive approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 TA, Childcare, Health & Social Care) desirable but not essential
