A recruitment agency for education professionals is seeking an experienced SEMH Primary School Class Teacher in Carshalton. SEMH Primary School Class Teacher (Sutton, SM5) – Immediate Start

Prospero Teaching are currently recruiting for an experienced Primary School teacher to join a supportive team for class teaching in Sutton. The Pupil Referral Unit caters to students aged 6 – 12.

Daily Rate: GBP160 – GBP250

Location: Carshalton, located in the London Borough of Sutton

Contract Type: 5 days a week, Full-Time

Start Date: Immediate

Duration: Long Term, Temp-Perm

The successful applicants will have :

  • Previous experience working with Autism, Speech Language and Communication difficulties.
  • Previous experience managing challenging behaviour.
  • Ideally experience working with children and / or young people.
  • Valid and enhanced child or child and adult DBS check.

Responsibilities :

  • Plan and deliver high-quality English lessons tailored to individual student needs.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment in small group settings.
  • Build strong relationships with pupils to encourage positive behaviour and engagement.
  • Collaborate with a dedicated team to support the personal and academic development of students.
  • Take on the planning, preparation, and assessment duties associated with the role, as well as contribute to the wider responsibilities expected of a permanent member of staff.

Requirements :

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching KS3 or primary-aged students, ideally in a PRU or similar setting.
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to adapt to the needs of learners.
  • Empathy, resilience, and a proactive approach to working with students with additional challenges.
  • A valid DBS on the update service.
  • The right to work in the UK.
  • Proven teaching experience.
