Job description

Our client is a specialist contractor with a strong reputation for delivering equestrian construction, agricultural buildings, fencing, drainage, surfacing and estate infrastructure. They are entering a planned phase of growth and expanding their service offering. To support this journey, they are seeking an Estimator who wants ownership, impact and the opportunity to contribute to a developing commercial function.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates across equestrian, agricultural, civils, fencing and estate works.
  • Produce clear, professional tender submissions.
  • Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors and delivery teams.
  • Identify commercial risks early and protect margin.
  • Support the development of scalable estimating systems and commercial processes.
  • Bring complementary experience to strengthen the client's expanding service capability.

A significant proportion of projects require pricing from limited information, particularly in estate and equestrian environments. You must therefore be confident preparing mark‑ups, layouts and take‑offs where drawings are unavailable.

Experience
  • Groundworks or civils
  • Equestrian or agricultural construction
  • Surfacing or access tracks
  • Fencing
  • Rural or estate works
  • Agricultural or steel‑framed structures

Experience does not need to match the existing offering exactly. Complementary backgrounds are welcomed.

Skills
  • Strong first‑principles pricing ability
  • Ability to interpret and quantify scope from limited information
  • Commercial awareness and sound judgement
  • Confident communication with suppliers and subcontractors
  • Highly organised, methodical and self‑driven
Mindset
  • Takes ownership of outcomes
  • Maintains high standards
  • Is curious and willing to ask questions
  • Works accurately and methodically
  • Is motivated to develop as the commercial function grows
Why Apply?
  • Join a business at a significant stage of growth
  • Direct influence on pricing systems and commercial development
  • A varied portfolio of high‑quality projects
  • Hybrid working and a supportive, professional culture
  • Competitive salary, performance incentives and long‑term development opportunities
