We would like to offer a Practice Nurse the opportunity to join our Friendly team here at Steppingstones Medical Practice.

We have a patient population of around 8500 patients in the heart of Dudley.

We are a very friendly team, who can't wait to welcome a new Practice Nurse to SSMP.

Main duties of the job

The opportunity has arisen for an experienced professional RGN to join our friendly Practice to provide a comprehensive nursing service to our patients in accordance with DQOF and CQC guidelines serving a population of 8500 patients.

You will have a patient-focused approach to improving the quality of care and your team will deliver through innovative techniques and technologies.

Always acting professionally, you will be genuine and personable, yet able to make tough decisions. Reflecting and learning from your role, you will share your skills and knowledge to help and support colleagues.

You should be well motivated and committed to ensuring the delivery of high quality care.

You will also possess excellent personal and interpersonal communication skills

Have the ability and willingness to embrace change and manage change effectively

Develop new skills and ways of working

Be a team player

An interest in palliative care and Learning Disabilities would be desirable but not essential

The role will primarily focus upon chronic disease management and qualifications in Diabetes, Asthma, COPD and CVD would be an advantage.

About us

We are a large friendly team consisting of 2 partner's, 1 manager, 2 assistant managers, 1 DQOF lead, 2 Secretary's, 3 Salaried GP's, 2 Practice Nurses's, 1 HCA, 1 Paramedic, 8 Administrators.

We are also a teaching practice, we will always have a few GP Registrars around too.

We are a very friendly team who treat each other like family.

We all work very hard and like to do our best for all of our patients.

Job responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities of a practice nurse often depend on whether they are working within a team of practice nurses, or whether they are taking on multiple roles as the sole practice nurse in a small clinic. Some duties and responsibilities that a practice nurse might have include:

  • Providing consultations to patients via their clinic or surgery;
  • Accurately diagnosing some illnesses and providing correct treatments;
  • Applying dressings and treating wounds;
  • Long Term Condition management.
  • Childhood Immunisations.
  • Providing health advice to their patients regarding their health conditions, as well as advice about fitness or diet according to government guidelines;
  • Administering vaccinations and immunisations to patients of all ages;
  • Keeping patient records up to date;
  • Checking a patients temperature, pulse and blood pressure correctly;
  • Working alongside and communicating regularly with practice GPs, nurses, pharmacists and other healthcare professionals.
Person Specification
Qualifications
  • Nursing Degree and registration
  • Qualified in Phlebotomy, able to complete Diabetes, Asthma and other Long term condition checks.
Experience
  • Experience of working within a nursing team in general practice would be essential.
  • Experience of working with vulnerable patients.
  • Experience of working in a GP Practice.
