Postgraduate Teaching Assistant - Special Needs Provision

We are looking for an enthusiastic, compassionate, and dedicated Postgraduate Teaching Assistant to join our Special Needs Provision in Stoke-on-Trent. Responsibilities

• Support students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), providing tailored assistance to help them achieve their full potential.
• Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to deliver personalized learning plans and strategies.
• Help foster an inclusive learning environment, ensuring that all students feel valued, supported, and empowered to succeed.
• Encourage independent learning through the use of differentiated instruction and resources that cater to the specific needs of each student.
• Monitor and track student progress, providing feedback and offering suggestions to enhance their educational experience.
• Support students with a range of additional needs, including those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Dyslexia, ADHD, and other developmental needs.
• Implement positive behaviour strategies to support social and emotional development, building self-esteem, resilience, and social skills.

Qualifications

• A recent graduate with a degree in Education, Psychology, Special Educational Needs, or a related field.
• A passion for working with children and a deep understanding of the importance of inclusive education and individualized support.
• The ability to apply evidence-based strategies to support students' learning and emotional wellbeing.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to form positive, empathetic relationships with students, staff, and families.
• Patience, adaptability, and a growth mindset, with the ability to reflect on practice and develop new skills.
• An understanding of SEND frameworks, and ideally some experience or knowledge of working with students with a range of learning disabilities.
