Job description

We are seeking to recruit a proactive and motivated individual to join our busy Ancillary team, providing a comprehensive porter service at North Somerset Community Hospital, based in Clevedon.

The Porter role supports the hospital and all departments by delivering a reliable, helpful and efficient service to patients, staff and visitors across the hospital site.

This is a varied and fast-paced role that requires strong organisational skills, the ability to manage and prioritise tasks effectively, and clear communication skills. In post, you will be expected to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team, demonstrating a positive and solution-focused approach to their work.

This is an opportunity to contribute to the delivery of Ancillary Services at Clevedon Community Hospital as part of a wider team. Working under the direction of the Hotel Services Manager, the role supports the hospital's overall objectives.

Main duties of the job
  • General surveillance for security purposes of people entering and leaving the building. Assisting patients, visitors and contractors with access and general queries. Dealing with staff enquiries and escalating appropriately to relevant person.
  • Deliver and collect mail from hospital units and departments
  • Storage and returns of Medequip equipment in outside stores.
  • Accept deliveries, assist in uploading of stores, transfer to hospital stores and departments and distribute general supplies.
  • Restock, issue and rotate stores. Keeping in good order.
  • Stores and equipment
  • Collect and deliver Pharmacy to wards and clinical areas.
  • Collect specimens from all departments ready for collection.
  • Assemble furnishings
  • Transport patients between wards and departments as instructed.
  • Keep yard and waste bin clean and orderly.

Food Safety, Health & Safety and Security:

  • To receive and check food deliveries, checking delivery temperature and reporting discrepancies to the Hotel Services Manager following food hygiene regulations.
  • Remove rubbish, clinical waste and sharps bins throughout the hospital, ensuring any waste bins are regularly emptied and secure.
  • Responsible for medical gas/ oxygen readings and replacing
