  • Liaising with suppliers/employers.
  • Managing stock control to reduce waste.
  • Organising workshop timetables and resource usage.
  • Supporting staff inductions and training.
  • Supporting awarding body inspections and audits.
Job description
Plumbing and Domestic Heating Technician (18.5 hours)

South Essex College is looking for a Plumbing and Domestic Heating Technician. Your responsibilities include:

  1. Carrying out daily, weekly, and monthly checks on tools, machinery and equipment.
  2. Maintaining compliance with COSHH, PUWER and other safety regulations.
  3. Keeping accurate safety records for audits and inspections.
  4. Managing safe storage and handling of materials, chemicals and equipment.
  5. Providing curriculum & assessment support, including ordering and maintaining stock/materials in line with curriculum plans and assessment schedules.
  6. Setting up workshop spaces and equipment for practical sessions.
  7. Providing technical assistance to tutors during practical delivery.
  8. Supporting plumbing apprenticeships to ensure workshops reflect industry standards and to prepare for EPA training.
  9. Liaising with suppliers/employers to keep materials and tools up to date.
  10. Managing stock control to reduce waste.
  11. Organising workshop timetables and resource usage.
  12. Supporting staff inductions and safe-use training for equipment.
  13. Supporting awarding body inspections and internal audits.
