Job description

Job Title: Plumber/Pipefitter

Location: Lister Hospital, Stevenage SG1 4AB

Employer: East and North Hertfordshire Teaching NHS Trust

Hours per week: 37.5 hours (Monday to Friday 8.00 – 16.00)

Hourly rate: £16.53

Overview

ENHT is currently looking for an experienced Plumber/Fitter to join their busy team at Lister Hospital. As a Fitter Plumber, you'll need a solid understanding of estates plumbing systems, such as heating systems, boilers, and related components. Your responsibilities will include performing legionella checks, servicing thermostatic mixing valves, inspecting calorifiers and monitoring temperatures in accordance with the Approved Code of Practice (L8 & HTM).

You'll work both independently and collaboratively within a team. The right applicants will be enthusiastic, physically fit, and possess knowledge of controls for fault finding. Applicants should be able to organise their work, manage parts and materials efficiently, and carry out tasks safely and neatly.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out mechanical and plumbing maintenance, repairs, and planned preventative maintenance (PPM).
  • Diagnose and repair faults on heating, ventilation, hot and cold-water systems, steam and pressure plant.
  • Work safely at all times in line with Trust health & safety policies and complete risk assessments.
  • Maintain and operate plant and equipment using appropriate tools and servicing equipment.
  • Prepare pressure plant and equipment for insurance inspections.
  • Carry out drainage unblocking and plumbing repairs when required.
  • Participate in emergency response and the Trust-wide on-call rota.
  • Order spares, materials and supervise work as required.
Skills and Experience Required
  • NVQ Level 3 / Approved Apprenticeship / City & Guilds or equivalent.
  • Clean UK Driving Licence.
  • Proven experience in mechanical and plumbing maintenance (hospital experience desirable).
  • Good IT, communication and organisation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
