Job description

Overview

Position: Plater / Welders

Location: Birkenhead, Wirral

Package: £19.22 per hour + Overtime £28.83 - £38.44

Hours: 38 hours per week (8am - 4:30pm Monday - Thursday / 8am - 2:30pm Friday)

Contract: Long Term Contracting - PAYE

Responsibilities

• Working with thermal processes for cutting and welding
• Working from technical engineering drawings and documentation
• Working across site production in preparation for assembly of all components, and modules up to construction stage at which point the welding team will take over.
• Understanding the selection process of various materials and considering traceability for material type and thickness.
• Able to use the most appropriate cutting methods safely, thermal cutting (oxy-acetylene, plasma), cold cutting methods (guillotine, steel worker, cropper, angle grinder, nibbler).
• Ability to produce templates and JIGs for batch production or difficult and repetitive shapes.
• Ability to tack/ block weld, using MMA, FCAW (qualification as required)

Qualifications

• Proven track record in the Marine / Steel fabrication / Off-shore / Petro-chemical or Construction industries - Essential
• Highly skilled plater/ fabricator with experience of; FCAW, MMA, MIG/ MAG welding processes - Essential
• Experience in thermal cutting processes (oxy-acetylene, plasma) - Essential.
• Experience in cold cutting techniques, grinding and nibbling machines - Essential.
• Experience using handheld angle grinders and pencil grinders - Essential
• Experience of working at heights and confined spaces - Essential
• Qualified welding / plater within qualified to 9606-R1, butts & fillets 316 process - certificates valid / expired will be required for proof of. - Essential
