Overview

My local authority client in the East Midlands is looking for an experienced Town Planning Policy Manager or Leader to manage the Town Planning Policy Team. The council is finalising its new local plan, a plan that sets out a challenging agenda for growth involving sustainable urban extensions, an Enterprise Zone, regeneration areas and a significant level of new housing and employment to meet the needs well into the 2030s.

The council is preparing a community Infrastructure Levy, a raft of supplementary Planning Documents and a Design Code.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the Town Planning Policy Team.
  • Finalise the new local plan, including the growth agenda for 2030.
  • Prepare the community Infrastructure Levy, supplementary Planning Documents and Design Code.
  • Implement growth plan and participate in the delivery of the County Growth Plan.
  • Contribute to strategic planning as part of the wider planning team.
  • Promote green infrastructure, active travel and low‑carbon development.
