A leading UK infrastructure company is seeking a Planning Manager for the Metrowest rail project in Portishead. The successful candidate will provide strategic planning and scheduling expertise, oversee project schedules, manage risk and change, and mentor junior planners. Ideal candidates should have experience in complex infrastructure schemes and be proficient in Primavera P6. The Metrowest scheme will reconnect Bristol and Portishead by rail, providing the capability to introduce an hourly (or better) passenger service between Bristol Temple Meads, Pill, and Portishead along the Portishead single line [ELR: POD].

As Planning Manager, you’ll provide strategic planning and scheduling expertise across all phases of the project - from pre-contract through to delivery. You’ll be responsible for ensuring accurate progress monitoring and reporting, risk and change management, and supplier and stakeholder coordination to keep the programme on track.
You’ll work closely with internal teams, our client, and the wider supply chain to maintain robust and transparent plans that support informed decision-making. As a senior member of the team, you’ll also mentor junior planners, helping to develop capability and consistency across the planning function.
We’re looking for an experienced Planning Manager with a proven track record delivering large, complex rail or infrastructure schemes. You’ll be a confident communicator, capable of engaging with a range of stakeholders and presenting clear, data-driven insights.
