Planning Consultant

Location: Wakefield, West Yorkshire (hybrid –4 days on site)Salary: Up to £43,000 DOE

A great opportunity for an experienced Planning Consultant to join a growing organisation and take ownership of the full planning process across varied development projects.

You’ll provide planning advice, prepare applications, coordinate with local authorities and stakeholders, and guide projects from initial assessment through to approval. The role would suit someone confident in planning policy and legislation, with experience in complex or sensitive planning environments such as listed buildings or conservation areas.

Duties and responsibilities:
  • Prepare and submit planning applications and supporting reports.
  • Advise internal teams and clients on planning strategy.
  • Manage applications through to determination.
  • Carry out site appraisals and feasibility assessments.
  • Liaise with councils, consultees and stakeholders.
  • Monitor policy changes and planning developments.
About you:
  • Degree in Town Planning, Urban Planning, Architecture, or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of UK planning legislation.
  • Experience in preparing planning statements and reports.
  • Confident communicator with stakeholders and local authorities.
  • Highly organised and able to manage multiple projects.
  • RTPI membership (or working towards) is desirable.
  • Heritage or conservation planning experience is desirable.
