Look no further! We are delighted to be seeking a Planning Compliance Officer to join our friendly and forward-thinking team here at Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council.

This fast-paced and varied role sits within our Planning Services Team, within the Inclusive Growth, Planning and Development service area. This is an exciting opportunity to become a key member of the service in investigating and managing a caseload of alleged breaches of planning control. Our borough is a unique mix of urban settings, market towns, and rural areas, and our team works across commercial, residential, and environmental projects. This variability makes our work fulfilling and rewarding, giving you the opportunity to support us in creating a lasting and visible impact on the communities we serve.

We are looking for someone who is motivated and resilient and will be able to work both independently and collaboratively across departments and with external partners. As you’ll be engaging with the public, Council Members, and external stakeholders, excellent communication and interpersonal skills are also essential - especially in conflict resolution and influencing positive outcomes.

Qualifications and attributes
  • Relevant experience in a regulatory, investigative or compliance environment.
  • The ability to manage conflict, influence and negotiate effectively to deliver outcomes.
  • A customer-focused, proactive approach and ability to manage a diverse caseload.
Benefits and rewards
  • A competitive salary of £34,434 - £37,280
  • 27 days annual leave per year rising to 32 with 5 years service (plus bank holidays). Ability to purchase additional leave is also available.
