Planner

Location: Bedford

Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting an established and respected planning consultancy in Bedford as they look to appoint a Planner to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a planning professional with around 1-3 years’ experience who is looking to develop their career within a supportive, knowledgeable and commercially focused environment.

The Role

As a Planner, you will work on a wide variety of projects across residential, commercial and mixed-use developments. You’ll support senior team members while also taking responsibility for your own casework as your experience develops. The role offers genuine progression, strong professional exposure and the chance to work closely with clients, consultants and local authorities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing and submitting planning applications, statements and supporting documents
  • Undertaking site appraisals, policy research and feasibility assessments
  • Assisting with planning appeals and Local Plan representations
  • Liaising with clients, stakeholders and local planning authorities
  • Supporting senior colleagues on larger, more complex projects
  • Contributing to the delivery of high-quality planning advice
About You

We are seeking a motivated Planner who is eager to develop both professionally and commercially. You will bring:

  • Around 1-3 years’ experience in planning (consultancy, local authority or developer)
  • A relevant RTPI-accredited degree
  • Strong knowledge of the UK planning system
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good organisational ability and a proactive approach
  • MRTPI status or progress towards chartership (support provided)
