PHP Developer – 12-Month FTC

Location : Remote (UK-based)

Type : 12-Month Fixed Term Contract (FTC)

Clearance Requirement : BPSS eligibility essential (we cannot sponsor)

Amber Labs is seeking a talented PHP Developer to join our growing digital consultancy team on a 12-month fixed‑term contract. This is an excellent opportunity to work on impactful projects within UK Government environments while contributing to high‑quality engineering outcomes.

About the Role

As a PHP Developer, you will work as part of an agile delivery team, contributing to the development, enhancement, and maintenance of secure and scalable applications. You will collaborate closely with DevOps, architecture, and product teams to ensure delivery of robust technical solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain high-quality PHP applications.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to design and deliver new features.
  • Apply DevOps best practices to enhance CI / CD pipelines and automation.
  • Work within secure UK Government environments, following industry and security standards.
  • Contribute to technical discussions, code reviews, and continuous improvement.
Essential Skills & Experience
  • 3–5 years’ experience as a PHP Developer.
  • Strong understanding of Doctrine and object‑oriented programming principles.
  • Preferably experience with Laminas or Zend Framework.
  • Good knowledge of DevOps practices.
  • Familiarity with AWS cloud services.
  • Strong skills with GitHub Actions and workflow automation.
  • Experience working within government or highly regulated environments.
  • Eligible for BPSS clearance.
