Job Title: Phonics & Literacy Tutor

Location: Thamesmead, London

Pay Rate: £25-£35 per hour

Job Type: Temporary | Part-Time | Flexible Hour

Responsibilities
  • Deliver one-to-one or small group tuition in phonics, reading and literacy.
  • Support early reading development using phonics-based approaches.
  • Identify learning gaps and provide targeted support to build confidence and fluency.
  • Adapt sessions for learners with additional needs, including SEN or speech and language difficulties.
  • Monitor and track progress, provide regular updates to parents/carers and the wider educational team.
Requirements
  • Minimum 1 year of experience teaching or tutoring phonics/literacy.
  • Strong understanding of phonics frameworks and literacy teaching strategies.
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Must have or be willing to undertake Enhanced DBS check.
Desirable
  • QTS, PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Experience working with children with SEN.
  • Training in structured phonics programmes.
