Phlebotomist

The post holder is required to work as a Phlebotomist collecting blood samples by venepuncture from patients. The job will include some housekeeping and light portering duties. The post holder will be involved with찰 direct handling of uncontained body fluids from patients.

Main duties of the job

General

  • To co-operate fully with senior staff to ensure quality and maintain standards in the Phlebotomy Service within the Trust. To assist in achieving day to day service objectives.
  • To take part in ensuring implementation and adherence to Departmental & Trust policies and procedures.
  • To help foster a high professional standard and encourage good staff relationships.
  • To take part fully in the daily routine of the Phlebotomy service. This may involve light portering duties and general messenger duties.
  • To maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  • To participate in a system of performance review as required by the Phlebotomy Manager.
  • To work as guided by Advanced Phlebotomists, and as directed by Senior Phlebotomists on the Wards, Outpatients Department, or occasionally in outreach clinics.
  • To participate as part of a team to provide Phlebotomy cover for weekend and Bank Holiday rotas.

Previous experience in phlebotomy or healthcare would be a distinct advantage, although not essential as full training will ಕೈ be given.

Applicants need to be able to work a variety of shifts to respond to changes in service demands. The current position was a mixture of the followingిక times: 07:30‑11:30, 08:00‑12:00 and 08:30‑12:30 on a Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. The service operates 7 days a week, and the successful applicant will be expected to participate in weekend & public holiday rotas.
