A local health board in Abercanaid is seeking a part-time phlebotomist to join their Clinical Haematology team. In this role, you will collect blood samples for wards and outpatients while ensuring the quality of service provided. Good communication skills, adaptability, and experience in patient care are preferred, with venepuncture skills being a plus. This is a permanent position on an 8-hour contract over 5 days as part of the NHS framework.
The phlebotomy team are staff members of Pathology at Prince Charles Hospital, work closely with the nurses in the Clinical Haematology department. As a phlebotomist you will join the staff rota and will be required to collect blood samples providing a service to the wards and outpatients areas. A robust training programme will be given to ensure the appropriate skill and knowledge is achieved, thereby ensuring a good quality of samples can be analysed accurately by haematology, biochemistry, microbiology and blood bank.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and adaptable individual with good communication skills and a background in patient care. The skill and knowledge of venepuncture are desirable but not essential. Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This doesn’t mean essential; whilst the candidate doesn’t need to have skills in Welsh, we’ll consider it an advantage when short‑listing and selecting candidates. This isn’t 'fluency', just speaking & listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health. An exciting opportunity has arisen within Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board (CTMUHB) Clinical Haematology department for a part‑time phlebotomist. The Pathology Directorate is looking to appoint a part‑time phlebotomist to the existing team. The post holder will be based at the PCH site on a permanent 8‑hour contract set over 5 days and will work as part of the Clinical Haematology team to deliver a safe and efficient phlebotomy service within CTMUHB. The post holder will work closely with the Phlebotomy Supervisor. The post holder will be required to work within the phlebotomy team and work individually to perform phlebotomy duties in the outpatient setting, ward areas and the Clinical Haematology nursing team within CTMUHB.
