Qualifications

  • Candidates must have NVQ Level 3 or equivalent and be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
  • Relevant post-qualification pharmacy experience is essential.

Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Technician to join our Mental Health team at HMP Highpoint, a category C Prison located in the village of Stradishall in Suffolk.

Highpoint is a male prison with a capacity of 1370 males. You will be based within the healthcare department but will also go out to the wings to administer medication. The pharmacy team consists of 5 members. Highpoint Prison offers:

Hours
  • This role is a permanent 37.5 hours per week over 4 days
  • Monday - Friday
  • 7.45am - 6.15pm
Salary

This full-time position offers an annual salary up to £28,247 - £36,500 depending on experience.

Requirements

Candidates must have the legal right to work in the UK. Due to the role's nature, offers of employment are subject to vetting and security checks.

Main duties of the job
  • Provide patient-centred care, listening to and acting on patient feedback to ensure personalized care
  • Maintain a safe medicines management service and accurate medical records
  • Deliver non-judgmental care within professional standards, including timely medication administration and cost-effective prescribing
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team to make a difference

Qualifications and experience
  • NVQ Level 3, BTEC, or equivalent
  • Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Up-to-date CPD
  • Relevant post-qualification pharmacy experience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently following policy and procedures

Experience in hospital, community, or prison settings is desirable but not essential.

Additional criteria
  • Compliance with DBS checks due to the role's security requirements
