Pharmacy Technician

We are looking for a proactive, efficient and friendly Pharmacy Technician to support our pharmacy team at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Healthcare Services Limited.

Located on the site of Doncaster Royal Infirmary, we provide a pharmacy service which includes the dispensing of outpatient prescriptions for the hospital Trust patients.

The Pharmacy Technician will work closely with the Superintendent Pharmacist and supervisor, supporting the overall dispensing process and pharmacy operation.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be involved in dispensing prescriptions, serving customers, assisting the pharmacist, resolving queries and ensuring the smooth running of the dispensary.

Applicants must be a NVQ3 level trained Pharmacy Technician and be keen to provide excellent customer service to patients and healthcare professionals. They will have excellent communication skills and have the ability to work in a team environment.

About us

The successful candidate will join an experienced team of pharmacy staff. The busy nature of the pharmacy requires good teamwork to ensure that high customer service standards are maintained.

The pharmacy opening hours are Monday to Friday 9am to 6.30pm and Saturday 9am to 1pm.

Whilst the majority of work will take place Monday to Friday, the candidate will be expected to work at weekends, if required.

Job responsibilities

The successful candidate will support the Superintendent Pharmacist and supervisor to ensure that appropriate professional standards and local policies and procedures are complied with.

They will undertake personal development and continuing education as necessary to ensure a high level of competency in carrying out the functions of this post and maintaining registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council.

The pharmacy technician will be heavily involved in the dispensing process to ensure high customer service standards and an efficient dispensing process are maintained. They will also help to resolve customer queries, enquiries from healthcare professionals and other issues such as stock management.
