Overview
Rotational Pharmacy Assistant Band 2 – University Hospital Lewisham. 37.5 hours per week, including one weekend morning each week. Join our Pharmacy team to support safe and timely medication supply.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately record and unpack pharmaceutical deliveries, checking quantity, condition, shelf life and price.
- Issue stock to wards, clinics and community sites, preparing picking tickets, verifying issues and returning any out-of-date items.
- Dispense prescriptions for in‑patients, out‑patients, discharges, controlled drugs and clinical trials, assembling items and checking for accuracy before handing to the pharmacist or accredited technician.
- Assist with the preparation and dispensing of chemotherapy and sterile / non‑sterile products within Technical Services, following aseptic procedures and temperature controls.
- Maintain stock rotation, perform daily random stock checks and ensure compliance with safety, data protection and temperature monitoring requirements.
- Support the pharmacy needle‑free units, pharmacy till and community clinic orders as required.
- Play an active role in the weekly pharmacy ward rounds and emergency drug cupboard topping‑ups.
- Use the computer system to manage stock, issue, train and complete all necessary documentation and records.
Qualifications & Experience
- Good communication skills, capable of working under pressure.
- Literate, numerate and detail‑oriented.
- Computer‑savvy, able to follow written procedures.
- Physically capable of manual handling and standing for long periods.
- Flexible to work weekends, bank holidays and shift patterns.
- Desirable: GCSE Maths & English (AC), NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services or similar, previous pharmacy experience.

Job Purpose
To assist with day‑to‑day duties of the Pharmacy Store, Dispensary and Technical Services on a rotational basis, ensuring accurate handling, dispensing and medication safety.
