A home support service is seeking a Personal Care Assistant to provide practical and emotional support to a disabled individual in Bristol. Responsibilities include aiding with daily tasks, meal preparation, and assistance using mobility aids. The ideal candidate should be calm, compassionate, and experienced in supporting neurodivergent individuals. This part-time role offers flexible hours, with potential for occasional extra hours.
Personal Care Assistant required for a disabled 40-year-old woman living in St Pauls with a friendly medium-sized senior dog. Part-time day shift, 15.5 hours per week, with potential flexibility and occasional extra hours. Pay: £12.60/hour (weekday rate). Location: St Pauls, Bristol. Enhanced DBS check required.
My health declined in recent years and I benefit from a calm and gentle environment. I love my dog, nature, music, creativity, good food and holistic therapies. I am left-wing, care about the environment and fairness for all. I have multiple chronic health conditions (including ME/CFS, POTS, hEDS, Long Covid, Autism, ADHD, CPTSD, gynaecological and cardiac conditions) that affect my physical and mental health.
I am looking for a Personal Assistant who can offer practical and emotional support to help me re-engage with activities important to me and stay connected to the community. I do not drive, so I need someone who can accompany me to access these spaces. My condition can fluctuate and I use mobility aids accordingly. It is necessary to have a good understanding and experience of neurodivergence and the emotional challenges that can come with this. I may have memory difficulties, brain fog, executive functioning challenges and overwhelm; I need an assistant who can stay calm, be organised, remember tasks, and adapt to different situations while prioritising my wellbeing. Awareness and sensitivity around navigating services for someone with complex needs is important.
Hours: 15.5 per week. Possibility to share with another PA; hours may increase after social care review. Ideally includes Mondays. Flexibility available. Occasional extra hours on an ad-hoc basis.
