Job description
On the Road in Occupational Health – Peripatetic OH Technician (East Midlands)

OH Medical is recruiting on behalf of a leading occupational health provider for an enthusiastic Peripatetic Occupational Health Technician to join a growing mobile clinical team. If you enjoy variety, independence and being out and about rather than tied to one site, this role ticks a lot of boxes.

Based in the East Midlands, you’ll travel regionally with occasional nationwide trips, delivering vital health surveillance services directly to client sites using a Mobile Medical Unit (MMU). No two days look quite the same, and the work you do genuinely helps keep the UK workforce healthy and safe.

The Role

This is a hands‑on, practical role delivering high‑quality health surveillance and screening services across a wide range of industries. You’ll be fully supported with a 3‑week structured training and induction programme, plus ongoing mentoring once you’re up and running.

Perfect for someone who’s organised, people‑focused and confident working independently while still being part of a wider OH team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out health surveillance screenings including audiometry, lung function and baseline measurements
  • Record accurate clinical data and maintain high‑quality OH records
  • Ensure all equipment is clean, calibrated and fit for purpose
  • Support health promotion activities on client sites
  • Provide biometric data to support nurses and physicians with clinical decision‑making
  • Work closely with the wider occupational health team to ensure smooth service delivery
About You
  • Highly organised with excellent time management and communication skills
  • Strong understanding of GDPR and data handling
  • Confident working independently and managing your own workload
  • Approachable, professional and comfortable building relationships on site
  • Backgrounds well suited to this role include:
    • Experienced OHT
    • Hospital Healthcare Worker
    • Emergency Care Assistant / Technician
    • Ambulance Technician or Assistant
    • Army Medic
    • Sports Science Graduates with experience in baseline measurements

A manual UK driving licence is essential. You must be at least 21 years old and have held your licence for a minimum of 12 months. A licence share code will also be requested.

Please note: during the initial weeks, you may use your own vehicle or a hire car until a company van is available. Once given the Mobile Medical Unit must have space to park at/near home.

Hours
  • 37.5 hours per week
  • Typically worked between 8:00am and 6:00pm
Location
  • Travel across the East Midlands
  • With some Nationwide work as required
  • Willingness to travel extensively with regular overnight stays. Typically, you’ll be away from home for around three weeks out of every four – but rest assured, you’ll always get home on Fridays for the weekend.
  • To help support a healthy work‑life balance, you’ll benefit from:
    • A diary viewable 6 weeks in advance, so you can plan ahead
    • £30 overnight subsistence for each night away
    • Access to a Premier Inn account for easy and stress‑free bookings
Salary & Benefits
  • £25,000 – £27,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications
  • Contributory pension scheme up to 6%
  • Life assurance
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, increasing with service
  • Birthday day off
  • Discounted gym membership
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Health cashback plan
  • Plus more
