About the role

We are seeking a proactive and future-focused HR professional to join our client's regional People Team, partnering with the People Business Partner to support managers and colleagues across the business. This opportunity suits a high-performing HR Assistant looking to progress to the next stage of their career.

This role is key to delivering practical HR guidance, managing first-stage employee relations casework, and ensuring policies and procedures are consistently applied. You will work closely with operations and H&S colleagues, support the full employee lifecycle, and build strong relationships both remotely and in person.

Key Responsibilities
  • A key member of the regional HR and Operations team, supporting the People Business Partner, managers and colleagues.
  • Provide practical HR guidance to managers, supporting effective people conversations and ensuring policies and procedures are followed, both remotely and in person.
  • Lead on first-stage employee relations casework, including probation reviews, disciplinaries, grievances, absence management and capability cases, escalating complex or high‑risk matters as required.
  • Work closely with Operations and Health & Safety colleagues on people‑related aspects of accidents, investigations, near misses and return‑to‑work processes.
  • Manage a high volume of casework while maintaining accuracy, professionalism and attention to detail.
  • Take a proactive approach to managing short‑term and long‑term absence, using data to identify trends and supporting colleagues via wellbeing and occupational health services.
  • Support cyclical HR activities, including performance and pay review processes.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and case notes using HR systems.
  • Act as a collaborative team player, supporting the wider People Team during busy periods and colleague absence.
  • Support recruitment and onboarding in partnership with hiring managers and external recruitment partners.
Requirements
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels of the organisation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, building positive and professional working relationships.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion and integrity.
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
  • Confident decision‑maker with sound judgement, knowing when to resolve issues independently and when to elevate.
  • Ability to coach and support managers to build capability and reduce reliance on the People Team for day‑to‑day matters.
  • Resilient and professional, particularly in fast‑paced or sensitive situations.
  • Demonstrates and upholds the company's values in all interactions with colleagues and stakeholders.
