About The Company:

Gemco is the largest garage equipment company in the UK providing repair, maintenance, installation and sales solutions to a range of fast fit centres, dealerships, independent garages and commercial fleet operators.

About The Role:

We are committed to continuous improvement and as PDI (Pre‑Delivery Inspection) & Quality Manager you will be responsible for overseeing and optimising the pre‑sale operations for our range of garage equipment. You will oversee the process of equipment undergoing rigorous quality inspections and testing, to ensure that it will meet industry regulations and company standards and requirements, as well as meeting our customers' expectations. Working with several different departments and reporting directly to the Head of Technical & Training, you will also be responsible for managing the PDI team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Overseeing the PDI department
  • Responsible for the new product introduction process
  • Conducting product testing, working with manufacturers for continuous improvements and R&D
  • Managing CE / Government approvals to ensure the business and products are compliant
  • Conducting regular equipment batch testing to ensure quality is maintained
  • Providing technical feedback for marketing, sales and supplier development for warranty rates and continuous improvement
  • Supporting marketing, sales and supplier development with technical recommendations and specifications for existing and new products
  • Developing partnerships with key product suppliers / manufacturers / product managers
  • Creating, updating and maintaining RAMS for new and existing products
  • Creating processes and procedures for the PDI department
  • Inspecting returned parts and equipment in line with warranty procedures
  • Managing 'Quarantined' stock / repairs
About you
  • You will need to be able to commute between our Head Office (Training Centre) and Warehousing sites (a vehicle will be supplied)
  • Prior experience of working in or knowledge of a technical training department
  • Strong technical background ideally in electro‑mechanics and experience working with a wide range of equipment
  • Significant attention to detail and accuracy
  • A good communicator, used to dealing with a wide variety of people using different methods
  • Attend training as required by the role including, but not limited to, technical training first aid / fire marshal training
