Job description
Overview

An opportunity has arisen for a PCB Test and Repair Engineer to join our team in Kirkbymoorside, North Yorkshire. This is a hands-on technical role within a high-tech environment, focused on testing, diagnosing, and repairing printed circuit boards to the highest standards of quality and reliability.

Responsibilities

Day to day, you will carry out tests using automated test equipment, oscilloscopes, multimeters, and other diagnostic tools, analysing results and resolving faults. The role also involves performing component replacement, soldering, and rework on a variety of PCB types, including complex multi-layer and surface-mount assemblies. You will use advanced repair equipment such as microscopes, reflow ovens, and hot-air rework stations to support this work. A key part of the role is accurate documentation of all test results, repairs, and modifications, alongside clear reporting to support design and production teams. You will collaborate with engineers to suggest design or process improvements and work closely with production staff to ensure smooth testing and repair workflows.

Qualifications

We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in electronics, ideally supported by a relevant qualification or equivalent experience in PCB testing and repair. IPC certification would be advantageous but is not essential. The role requires excellent soldering skills, confidence in reading schematics and circuit diagrams, and proven troubleshooting ability. Prior hands-on experience with PCB assembly, testing, and repair is essential, with a preference for candidates bringing at least 2-3 years of industry experience.

Benefits
  • A 37-hour working week (8.30am 4.30pm Monday to Thursday, 8.30am 4.00pm Friday) with flexi-time available.
  • Overtime paid at time and a half Monday to Saturday and double time on Sundays.
  • 25 days holiday plus 8 bank holidays.
  • A 5% pension scheme.
  • Life insurance at twice your base salary.
  • Private healthcare cover.
Additional qualities

We are looking for someone detail-oriented, analytical, and proactive, with strong communication skills and the ability to thrive both independently and as part of a team. This is an excellent opportunity to apply your technical expertise in an environment that values precision, collaboration, and innovation.
