We’re on the lookout for a full time Payroll Lead to join our welcoming team in Welshpool (Perth, WA) on a fixed term arrangement (up to 12 months - Parental Cover).

In this standalone role, you will manage end‑to‑end payroll for over 650 employees. Working closely with senior leaders, finance, and HR, you will ensure payroll accuracy, maintain compliance with multiple awards and agreements, and lead process improvement initiatives. What you’ll be doing

Reporting to the General Manager People & Culture, you’ll be responsible for overseeing end‑to‑end payroll processing for the Y’s WA based employees. Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead and manage the full payroll function, ensuring accurate and timely processing for all employees, including salaried and award‑covered staff.
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory, regulatory, and contractual obligations across multiple modern awards and classifications.
  • Maintain and optimise payroll systems, safeguarding data integrity and confidentiality at all times.
  • Prepare and review monthly payroll reports to support P&L statements, balance sheet reconciliations, and compliance requirements such as superannuation, PAYG, and workers’ compensation.
  • Manage complex payroll calculations, including back pay, terminations, redundancies, allowances, and overtime.
  • Lead payroll audits, collaborate with external auditors, and champion continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Stay current with payroll legislation and industry best practices, proactively implementing changes to maintain compliance and operational excellence.
  • Contribute to special projects, including payroll system upgrades and implementation initiatives, as required.
You’ll be great in this role if you have…
  • Tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Accounting, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in end‑to‑end payroll management, including processing payroll for permanent and casual employees across multiple awards.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, strong time management skills, and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
  • Advanced Excel proficiency (intermediate to advanced level), with the ability to analyse and manipulate data effectively.
  • Demonstrated experience in driving process improvements and contributing to system implementation projects.
  • Outstanding communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build strong relationships across the business.
  • Proactive and solutions‑focused mindset, with a passion for continuous improvement and delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Experience with Humanforce Workforce Management and HR3 systems is highly regarded but not essential.
