Job Introduction

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organised individual to join our team as a Payroll Administrator. This exciting role provides an invaluable opportunity to develop core professional skills while supporting the smooth and accurate administration of 12 monthly payrolls for approximately 7,000 employees. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to effectively prioritise and manage multiple complex tasks within a high-volume environment.

This position is a fixed-term contract for 12-18 months

It is an office-based role, working Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week.

Main Responsibilities
  • Compliance Administration: Complete necessary statutory documentation, such as SSP1, SMP1, and SPP1.
  • New Starter Integration: Facilitate the smooth processing and onboarding of all new hires, accurately capturing starter details and P45 information in the system.
  • Absence Record Keeping: Process all employee absence leave, ensuring data integrity through the prompt handling of corrections.
  • Debt Recovery Support: Assist with the tracking, communication (via email), and resolution of payroll overpayments, keeping all tracking systems fully up to date.
  • Payroll Processing Assistance: Directly support the payroll team in the monthly processing cycle and various other payroll-related tasks.
  • Information Management: Manage the organised filing of all payroll documentation, utilising both the internal email system and physical records.
  • First-Line Support: Act as a primary contact for all payroll inquiries, professionally answering incoming calls and resolving email queries where possible, or efficiently escalating complex issues to senior team members.

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills required to meet strict monthly payroll deadlines.
  • Highly effective communication skills (both written and verbal) for interacting clearly with employees and managers.
  • Proven ability to handle all payroll data and information with the utmost discretion and confidentiality.
  • Proficiency with core business software, including Microsoft Excel, Google Docs, and email.
  • Strong analytical skills and a resourceful approach to problem-solving.
