Job summary

Alton Community Hospital, operated by Hampshire and Isle of Wight NHS Foundation Trust, seeks a receptionist to be the first point of contact for patients, visitors and staff. Duties include switchboard, welcoming guests, room bookings, post handling and key control.

You will work Monday to Friday with alternating morning/afternoon blocks and must have right to work in the UK. The role emphasizes confidentiality and professional communication.

Qualifications

• GCSE level education or equivalent with numeracy and literacy.
• Experience in customer-facing reception or office environments.
• Keyboard skills and competent use of IT systems.

Responsibilities

• Answer telephone calls and operate the switchboard.
• Welcome and direct patients, visitors and contractors.
• Manage visitor sign-in procedures.
• Process incoming and outgoing post and parcels.
• Book meeting, consultation and clinic rooms.
• Issue, record and monitor building and parking keys.
• Monitor and order stationery and office supplies.
• Report building faults and escalate as required.
• Receive, send and respond to emails.
• Support the Site Manager with administrative tasks.
• Cover colleagues as needed when absent.
