Job summary

Pathology Training Coordinator

Sherwood Forest Hospitals are seeking a highly motivated, training-focused Biomedical Scientist to join our team of around 170 staff, to work as the Pathology Training Coordinator across Sherwood Forest Hospitals. You will lead the delivery of a well-established training programme, with the freedom to modify it where change may be required, in an innovative and creative way.

We are looking for a candidate with excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills, and experience in different delivery models of training.

Pathology Services at Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is committed to provide the highest quality service possible. We provide an analytical, diagnostic, interpretative and consultative service to hospitals, clinics and GP practices for a population of approximately 420,000 in the north of Nottinghamshire. The laboratories are: Cellular Pathology, Clinical Chemistry and Immunology, Haematology and Blood Transfusion, Microbiology and Point-of-Care Testing. All of the laboratories are supported by Central Services (specimen reception).

Person Specification
Knowledge Requirements
  • Relevant theoretical/practical/scientific knowledge to underpin the training aspects of a laboratory service
  • Wide knowledge of training requirements needed for all grades of staff across Pathology
Qualifications
  • Heath and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered Biomedical Scientist
  • Biomedical Science Degree (BSc) or equivalent acceptable qualification by Health and Care Professions Council
  • Training Qualification or relevant experience e.g. Certificate of Expert Practice in Training
  • MSc Pathological Sciences or equivalent post-graduate qualification
Further Training
  • Participates in Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
Experience
  • Experience in a training/supervisory role
  • Experience working in a Clinical Laboratory
Contractual Requirements
  • Work on any day of the week (5 days out of 7)
  • Annual attendance at Trust Fire Lecture and Mandatory Training
