The Opportunity

Long Term Futures are seeking a committed and empathetic Pastoral Support Assistant to join a forward-thinking and inclusive secondary school in the Tower Hamlets area.

The pastoral team plays a vital role in supporting pupils with social, emotional, behavioural, and wellbeing needs, helping them overcome barriers to learning and succeed both inside and outside of the classroom.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about supporting young people's personal development, resilience, and overall wellbeing.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 and small-group pastoral support for pupils with social, emotional, or behavioural needs
  • Assist with early intervention strategies and monitor pupil wellbeing
  • Support pupils with attendance, engagement, and behaviour management
  • Work with teachers, safeguarding leads, and external agencies to provide coordinated support
  • Maintain accurate pastoral records and contribute to individual support plans
  • Help create a safe, supportive, and positive school environment
  • Build trusted, empathetic relationships with pupils to promote progress and confidence
Requirements
  • Experience supporting young people in a school, youth work, or pastoral setting
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and de-escalation skills
  • Understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and pupil wellbeing
  • Empathetic, patient, and resilient approach
  • Ability to stay calm and solution-focused in challenging situationsPassion for supporting young people's personal and emotional development
