Pastoral Care Officer

Location: Middlesbrough

Salary: £150 per day

Start Date: Immediate

Contract Type: Full‑Time

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain positive, professional relationships with learners
  • Support pupils presenting with SEMH needs and challenging behaviours
  • Promote safeguarding, welfare, and emotional wellbeing at all times
  • Provide daily pastoral support addressing social, emotional, and physical needs
  • Supervise learners during breaktimes and lunchtimes
  • Act as part of an on‑call pastoral support network throughout the school day
  • Liaise with teaching staff, pastoral teams, parents/carers, and multi‑agency professionals
  • Provide classroom cover when required
  • Support learner transitions, independence training, and reintegration
  • Implement first‑day response strategies to promote positive attendance
  • Maintain a safe, secure, and inclusive school environment
Requirements
  • Previous experience working in a pastoral setting
  • Proven ability to manage challenging behaviour effectively
  • Strong communication and de‑escalation skills
  • Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
  • Right to work in the UK
