Role Summary
Own the engineering strategy and delivery for Collins Aerospaces passenger identity products (biometric verification and clearance across kiosk bag-drop security and boarding). You’ll lead a multi-disciplinary team to build scalable, secure low-latency solutions that integrate seamlessly with airport and airline systems worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategy & roadmap: Define and execute the engineering roadmap for the biometric identity product line, cloud architecture, face/iris modules, enrollment workflows and integrations across the airport journey.
- Technical leadership: Make architecture decisions that meet targets for scalability, reliability, security and sub‑second performance.
- Team leadership: Hire, mentor and grow software, AI/ML, cloud, embedded, hardware systems integration and test engineers; create a high‑ownership delivery‑driven culture.
- SDLC ownership: Run requirements, design, development, V&V, deployment and lifecycle maintenance with strong metrics and change control.
- Cross‑functional partnership: Translate market and customer needs with Product, UX, Marketing, Sales and Customer Success into clear, testable deliverables.
- Ecosystem integration: Ensure robust integration with DCS / PSS CUPPS / vMUSE / CUSS self‑service bag‑drop security gates and e‑gates / boarding gates.
- Cloud & global scale: Implement and operate cloud‑native infrastructure (preferably AWS) for multi‑tenant, multi‑airline, multi‑region deployments and localization.
- Quality & DevSecOps: Establish CI / CD, test automation, observability, SLOs / SLAs and certification readiness; enforce DevSecOps and secure SDLC practices.
- Security & privacy: Partner with cybersecurity, identity, privacy and data governance to ensure regulatory compliance, secure template storage, auditability and risk mitigation.
- Commercial enablement: Manage budget, resource planning and partner/vendor relationships (sensors, biometric SDKs); support bids, proposals, trials and customer deployments.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science, Electrical / Systems Engineering or related field; MBA a plus.
- 8 years delivering complex software / hardware or identity systems; 35 years leading engineering teams and programs.
- Hands‑on experience with cloud‑native architecture (AWS preferred) identity management and biometrics (face / iris / fingerprint) or adjacent CV / digital identity domains.
- Proven record integrating hardware & software (sensors, embedded and back‑end services) at scale in aviation, airport security or other high‑reliability environments.
- Deep familiarity with CI / CD, DevSecOps automation, agile delivery and KPI‑driven execution.
- Strong systems thinking across software, hardware, networks and airport / airline operations.
- Excellent leadership and stakeholder skills; credible with C‑level customer audiences.
- Willingness to travel to airport sites, customer labs and industry events.
Preferred Qualifications
- Domain experience in airport passenger processing (CUPPS, CUSS, DCS gates).
- Knowledge of biometric / identity standards (ICAO, IATA, ISO).
- Global deployment expertise (multi‑region cloud, multi‑tenant, localization).
- Experience with face / iris media pipelines and ML / AI verification workflows.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks for airports / critical infrastructure.
