Overview

Part Time Live in or Live out Gardener/Handyman/Driver job in Somerset

This is a fabulous opportunity to work self-employed, part-time, for a lovely client of Greycoat’s based approximately 10 miles from Bath, who although lives independently, requires some assistance to manage her beautiful home, due to a degree of disability that is not obvious. There are no pets, and it is generally a socially quiet home.

The 3.5 acres of grounds are surrounded by the river Frome and Leat, along with an old Mill (previously an opera venue) and stunning weir. Therefore, it is important that someone is comfortable to work near water (and there will be opportunity to take advantage of the ability to fish, swim and boat from the private bank) the rest of the grounds are mainly informal with meadow and Arboretum.

This flexible position to provide support is on a part-time basis between 15 - 25 hrs per week depending on skill set.

The client is looking for a positive, cheerful all-rounder with specialists being bought in to assist as necessary.

Responsibilities

• Garden maintenance duties such as lawn mowing, light strimming, weeding and pruning, leaf blowing, sweeping, digging, preparing bonfires (confidence on a ladder is required to prune various wall climbers around the property)
• Household maintenance (minor repairs and basic DIY)
• Gutter and window cleaning up to 1st floor.
• Car vacuuming and washing.
• Driving duties (client drives herself but will sometimes require a run into Bath, the train station and very occasionally into London/airports.
• Security and housesitting when the client is away, including collecting post and taking deliveries.

Bonus skill set

• Competence with a chainsaw
• Removal of debris from weir
• Strimming of Riverbank
• Tree work
• Basic carpentry

Accommodation

Luxurious light, level, open planned, detached property (1,500sqft) with River/ tree frontage and small private courtyard. No pets and no live in partner, but overnight guests would be welcome with consultation.

Working hours

Working days and hours are flexible and can be negotiated and set, to suit the right candidate and the client.

Driving

Confidence and a valid driving license is necessary for the role to drive the client in her automatic car.
