Job description
Who we’re looking for

A paralegal for the Client Group and Product Legal Team whose focus will be on the intermediary distribution of the firm’s Luxembourg‑based regulated funds. Intermediary fund distribution agreements with the Luxembourg management company need to be executed and updated on a regular basis, and at scale. We need a focused, capable and team‑spirited candidate who is ready to invest in the team and the firm’s priorities. You will assist Lead Product Counsel, UK and the Product Legal Team (six lawyers) generally and will be both internal and external client facing.

The team

The Schroders Legal Team in London constitutes the majority of the global Group Legal team which totals around 70 lawyers. It services the Group’s range of asset and wealth management businesses in EMEA and globally across each of the Divisions of the firm: Public Markets, Client Group, Private Assets, Wealth Management and Corporate Functions.

What you’ll do
  • Intermediary fund distribution agreement negotiation and advice to client service teams in relation to the firm’s regulated Luxembourg‑based fund range with its various regulatory wrappers: UCITS, AIF, ELTIF.
  • Assist Lead Product Counsel, UK and the Product Legal Team (six lawyers) generally.
  • From time to time assist the Client Group teams in the UK and Europe as they face intermediary clients.
  • Advising on the application of Schroders Group policies and standards.
  • Instruct external counsel (usually either non‑UK or specialist) where appropriate.
The knowledge, experience and qualifications you need
  • Very good contract law knowledge, drafting skills and experience in client / service provider contract negotiation.
  • Very good written and verbal communication.
  • Excellent attention to detail and procedure.
  • Knowledge/experience of the investment management industry.
  • A developing understanding of the legal and regulatory risks and compliance processes associated with the financial services industry and FCA regulation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to liaise with staff at all levels.
  • Genuinely pro‑active and keen to take responsibility.

  • Fluency in additional languages.
