A healthcare provider in Wigan is looking for an enthusiastic Paediatric Nurse with experience in allergy care. The role involves managing the Paediatric Allergy Nurse-Led Service and providing support to children and families with allergies. We are looking for an enthusiastic Paediatric Nurse with an interest and experience in the role of paediatric allergy.
The post holder will be responsible and accountable for the day‑to‑day management of the Paediatric Allergy Nurse – Led Service. The post holder will work in partnership with other services to maintain efficient management of the caseload.
NHS Employees should ideally secure their manager’s agreement for a secondment arrangement ideally prior to applying, as this will be a condition of any offer made. This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term basis as it has been established to support an employee on a career break and will end in 9 months or when the substantive postholder returns. Whilst this post is advertised on an acting / secondment basis there is the potential that this post may become permanent in the future.
The Paediatric Allergy Specialist Nurse will provide care and support for Children and Young People (CYP) with allergies in the community and on Rainbow Ward, working alongside both primary and secondary care staff; to empower CYP and their families / carers to manage their allergies and healthcare needs confidently and competently through the provision of specialist nursing care.
Maintain and contribute to setting, monitoring and audit of excellent standards of nursing care with other members of the Children’s nursing team.
The practitioner will be expert in all areas of care specific to the needs of the CYP who present to the Paediatric Outpatients Department (POPD) and Rainbow Ward with allergies, who require support to access services provided by the organisation.
They will participate and contribute to the on‑going strategic development of Paediatric allergies in response to local, regional and national directives. Will work with Paediatric acute & complex care providers in the acute site / community, implementing systems and processes to provide high quality standardised service delivery.

The practitioner will be expert in all areas of care specific to their practice, whilst maintaining a holistic family centred approach, which facilitates clinical practice development. They will support and lead the delivery of evidence based CYP centred care, which is of a high standard. They are responsible for ensuring all care is delivered according to Trust policies and procedures. Utilising clinical audit, research, supervision of practice and teaching, they will monitor and improve standards of care by efficient and effective use of resources in line with the Trusts Clinical Governance Strategy.

The practitioner will be expert in all areas of care specific to the needs of the CYP who present to the Paediatric Outpatients Department (POPD) / Paediatric Emergency Care Centre (PECC) / Rainbow Ward with allergies, who require support to access services provided by the organisation.
They will participate and contribute to the on‑going strategic development of Paediatric allergies in response to local, regional and national directives. Will work with Paediatric acute & complex care providers in the acute site / community, implementing systems and processes to provide high quality standardised service delivery.
