Qualifications

  • NMC registered nurse specialized in pediatrics.
  • Experience in High Dependency Units or Critical Care settings.
  • Competence in paediatric physical assessments.
  • Current certification in APLS or EPALS.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a visible clinical presence and act as a role model.
  • Coordinate resources and support the Clinical Emergency Team.
  • Involved in PICU step-down process and bed allocation.
  • Participate in the Paediatric Hospital at Night Team.
  • Apply advanced nursing skills in a varied role.

Paediatric Site Practitioner (PSP)

The Portland Hospital for Women & Children
Full‑time: 37.5 hours per week
Permanent shifts: evenings, nights, two weekends per month

Overview

We’re looking for a Paediatric Site Practitioner to join a private hospital dedicated to the healthcare needs of women and children. The role provides 24/7 cover across our wards, supporting assessment and management of acutely unwell and deteriorating paediatric patients and escalating into HDU/PICU as appropriate.

Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities
  • Provide a visible clinical presence and act as a role model and expert practitioner
  • Coordinate resources, work closely with on‑site Duty Managers and support the Clinical Emergency Team
  • Involved in the PICU step‑down process, admissions via outpatients and urgent care centre and bed allocation
  • Out‑of‑hours participation in the Paediatric Hospital at Night Team and support ward staff with challenging situations
  • Apply advanced nursing skills in a varied role requiring clinical skills and good communication
Qualifications & Skills
  • NMC RN Child
  • HDU/Critical Care experience
  • Paediatric physical assessment skills
  • Current APLS/EPALS provider
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure
  • Evidence of CPD (e.g. Professional Portfolio)
