Outreach Tutor / Outreach Teacher (One-to-One Support)

Location: Benfleet

Pay: £22‑£25/hour (Unqualified) | From £26‑£30/hour (Qualified Teachers/Tutors)

Schedule: Monday to Friday minimum 3 days. Full or Part Time

Overview

Making a lasting impact—one learner at a time. We are seeking a compassionate educator who will provide personalised one‑to‑one teaching to a thirteen‑year‑old currently in care. You will support her confidence and foundation skills before she transitions to a school through our partner Alternative Education Service. You will engage with her interests such as horse riding and TV programmes to build trust and engagement for future education. You may work in a pupil’s home, a local library, or an education setting. Additional students can be referred to you as well.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Deliver tailored one‑to‑one sessions in core subjects such as English, Maths, PSHE, and more to secondary aged students.
  • Build positive relationships with the student and their foster family to foster trust and engagement.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to suit individual learning needs and styles.
  • Support students’ academic progress alongside emotional resilience and personal growth.
  • Maintain accurate session records and progress reports.
  • Use varied tools and resources to keep sessions engaging and impactful.
What We’re Looking For
  • Qualified or experienced educators with strong Maths and English skills.
  • Background in working with young people—especially those with SEMH.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organisational, and communication skills.
  • Empathy, patience, and a student‑centred approach to learning.
  • Confidence working independently across different environments.
  • Experience with risk assessment.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply – support available – cost £55.50).
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
