Job summary

A healthcare provider in Wales is looking for a Registered Nurse to join their Outpatients Department. The role involves facilitating clinics independently, managing the outpatient area, and supporting junior staff while performing clinical tasks such as wound care and phlebotomy. Candidates must be NMC registered with evidence of revalidation and have proficiency in Welsh to level 3. Experience in outpatient nursing and as a mentor is desirable. Flexible working over a 5-day week is required.

Job Summary

A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen to join the small patient focused team at the Outpatients Department, Royal Glamorgan Hospital - with the requirement to work in Dewi Sant Hospital if required. Main Outpatients facilitates a wide range of Consultant, Nurse led clinics and visiting Specialties.

The successful candidate must have an interest in Outpatient Nursing, work well independently and as part of a team, embrace the core values of the health board and a willingness to learn and improve services for patients.

Responsibilities
  • Facilitate clinics independently and as part of a team
  • Manage the Outpatient area in the absence of the Department Manager
  • Plan workload for staff
  • Perform phlebotomy, ECG recording, wound care and doppler procedures
  • Assist with minor operations
  • Supervise junior staff and support Student Nurses on placement
  • Take responsibility for mandatory training and e‑learning
  • Actively participate in PADR and support revalidation
  • Encourage departmental learning and development
  • Provide flexibility over the 5‑day work week

Registration
  • NMC registered and evidence of revalidation
Experience
  • Experience of being in charge of an area and managing junior staff
  • Experience as a student mentor (desirable)
  • Outpatients experience (desirable)
Clinical Experience
  • Wound management
  • Experience assisting in minor surgical procedures
  • Phlebotomy (desirable)
Communication
  • Ability to read and speak Welsh to level 3 (essential)
Additional Information

Welsh Skills Desirable: Speaking and Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above.
