Job description

Outpatient Receptionist/Scheduler – 37.5 h per week – Department: Patient Access – Band 3 – £24,937 per annum – Flexible working options for all MKUH roles.

Overview

Join the Patient Access team to deliver an administrative service focused on the patient and their individual needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Schedule outpatient appointments in accordance with National and locally defined policies, including the Patient Access Policy and Referral to Treatment.
  • Work in a call centre environment to respond to patient, GP and other queries, ensuring excellent customer service and adherence to data protection rules.
  • Monitor patient waiting lists to secure appointments within designated timeframes and appropriately escalated issues to senior managers.
  • Provide reception cover for Outpatient areas and MKUH Main Reception, updating Trust systems and delivering high‑quality customer service.
  • In the Central Booking Office, ensure patients are scheduled according to national and local policy, manage patient and telephone calls professionally, communicate clinic cancellations, and work collaboratively with other teams to provide an efficient scheduling service.
  • In Reception, greet patients and visitors, check in/out patients on eCare, process clinic outcome forms, perform daily cashing‑up, liaise with Clinicians and Nursing staff to ensure clinic outcome forms are received and actioned, maintain clean reception areas.
