Job description
Operator/Electrician

Salary: Circa £40,000
Permanent, Full Time, 37.5 hours per week (5 week rolling shift pattern including, bank holiday, weekend and on-call working)
Base Location: On-site, Irvine, North Ayrshire

At Alpheus, we deliver innovative water and wastewater treatment solutions for industrial clients. Our Lider is critical Sole to environmental sustainability and operational excellence, and we’re looking for a skilled Electrician and Operator to join our Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) team.

In this role, you’ll form an integral part of the operational team, carrying out proactive electrical maintenance and plant operations to ensure 100% availability of treatment capacity. You’ll work on routine and non‑routine electrical inspections, troubleshooting, and contribute өг to asset‑management plans, while also performing operational duties such as set‑point adjustments, sampling, and laboratory testing. Your expertise will help drive compliance, efficiency, and continuous improvement across the plant.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver proactive electrical maintenance and repairs to WWTP assets, ensuring reliability and efficiency.
  • Operate and optimise day‑to‑day plant processes, including monitoring, sampling, and adjustments.
  • Contribute to asset life‑management plans and improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with_projects environmental permits and health & safety standards, fostering a zero‑accident culture.
  • Support Six Sigma and other industry‑standard initiatives to drive performance.
  • Collaborate with team members and management to achieve KPIs for environmental performance and revenue generation.
Requirements
  • Electrical qualifications – City & Guilds or equivalent (Essential).
  • Experience working to asset‑management plans and in controlled H&S environments (Desirable).
  • Knowledge of wastewater operations or industrial processing plants (Desirable).
  • Strong communication, organisational, and IT skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, adapt, and contribute improvement ideas.
