Salary: £32,598 per annum rising to £35,242 upon completion of probation, plus Veolia benefits

Hours: 37 hours per week, Mon - Thu 7.30am to 3.30pm, Friday 3pm finish. 1 in 8 standby rota.

Location: East Calder WWTW, Livingston, EH53 0HB

What you'll be doing:

  • Promote and maintain a positive safety culture by following all site rules, wearing correct PPE, reporting incidents on AVA (Eco Online), and using 'Stop the Job' authority when observing unsafe conditions
  • Monitor plant and machinery operations using remote control room tools (SCADA), report maintenance requirements, and respond to plant failures outside normal hours as per roster schedule
  • Oversee site deliveries including chemicals, monitor third-party contractors, and ensure all work complies with performance management systems, quality standards, and health & safety legislation
  • Complete daily operational monitoring, logging of parameters, accurate CMMS reporting, and routine plant inspections while maintaining equipment certification registers
  • Monitor and report consumable stock levels (fuel, chemicals, lab supplies, grit salt) and check all tools and equipment before use, reporting any defects to management
  • Manage spillages correctly with proper cleanup and reporting procedures, while assisting maintenance technicians during repairs through cleaning and plant preparation
  • Provide support during abnormal and emergency situations including plant shutdowns and license exceedances, plus undertake general housekeeping and cleaning duties as required




What we're looking for:

  • Health and safety certifications: Asbestos, Chemical Safety, CoSHH, DSEAR, Fire, HAVS, and Legionella Awareness
  • Operational safety training: Mechanical Isolation, Permit to Work, Pressure Jetting, and Thinksafe Isolations
  • Working at height safety, slinging and signaling qualifications, Emergency First Aid certification
  • Proficient communication and relationship management skills
  • Strong time management and decision-making abilities
  • Experience with Risk Assessments and Method Statements
  • Basic IT proficiency for operational reporting systems
