Job summary

A healthcare provider in Fareham is seeking a part-time Occupational Therapy Assistant to join their team. This role (22.5 hours/week) involves helping service users develop life skills and manage their mental health. Responsibilities include working under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist, building therapeutic relationships, and participating in safety training. Ideal candidates will have relevant training and good interpersonal skills. A driving licence is preferred to assist with community placements.

Job Summary

At Ravenswood we are looking for a part-time (3 days / 22.5 hours) Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our team.

This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about helping service users learn life skills and support them in managing mental health and increasing independence.

Ravenswood is a secure forensic hospital for males aged 18-65 with 76 service users across three medium secure and two low secure wards. Staff work together to support the recovery pathway from admission to community return.

Responsibilities
  • Work under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist, using activity as a tool to assess service users’ level of functioning and achieve their individual occupational goals.
  • Build and maintain therapeutic relationships with service users, support rehabilitation, and develop and work toward goals.
  • Maintain safety and collaborate with the multi‑disciplinary team to support the recovery journey.
  • Participate in PMVA (Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression) training and be part of the PMVA team to maintain safety in the service.
  • Support service users in accessing community activities to build skills and reintegrate locally; driving a car is preferred.
  • Receive comprehensive induction, ongoing training, and monthly supervision.
  • Demonstrate resilience, manage personal wellbeing, and maintain a high level of mobility and fitness.
