We are recruiting on behalf of our esteemed client, seeking an experienced and driven OCC Manager to join their team and take ownership of critical facility operations.

This role is integral to ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of essential systems, infrastructure, and operations. The OCC Manager will lead a team in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment, making real‑time decisions to uphold performance, safety, and client satisfaction.

Role Overview

The OCC Manager will oversee all reactive and planned maintenance activities for mechanical, electrical (M&E) systems, building fabric, and infrastructure within a campus setting. The role includes monitoring critical Building Management Systems (BMS) alarms, managing incidents, and ensuring operational and risk management protocols are adhered to and continually enhanced.

Key Responsibilities
Operations & Team Leadership
  • Lead and manage the OCC team, ensuring adherence to policies, operational excellence, and compliance with safety standards.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for incidents, managing responses, risk assessments, and resolutions.
  • Provide 24/7 support alongside the OCC team, ensuring seamless shift transitions and coverage as part of a 2‑person shift team plus standby role.
Maintenance & Compliance
  • Oversee routine and reactive maintenance for all site systems, ensuring tasks meet agreed SLAs.
  • Conduct regular reviews of operational procedures, recommending improvements to enhance efficiency and safety.
  • Manage subcontractors, ensuring they comply with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), risk assessments, and site protocols.
Technical Oversight
  • Monitor and respond to alarms across BMS and EMS systems, assessing and escalating issues as necessary.
  • Ensure system connectivity and proactively resolve communication issues in monitored systems.
  • Analyse and report on key metrics, including Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE), to optimise operations.
Client & Stakeholder Communication
  • Maintain open and effective communication with clients, service desk teams, and senior management, providing updates and ensuring expectations are met.
  • Produce detailed reports, including root cause analyses, monthly updates, and performance metrics.
Health, Safety & Development
  • Champion a culture of health and safety within the team, ensuring compliance with all QHSE policies.
  • Provide training and development opportunities to staff, ensuring they are competent and confident in their roles.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Significant experience in building services, facilities management, or data centre operations.
  • Recognised electrical or mechanical training, such as City & Guilds
  • HV Authorised Person
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
  • Proficiency in BMS, EMS, and CAFM systems (formal qualifications advantageous).
  • Strong leadership skills to effectively manage, mentor, and inspire a technical team.
  • A proactive, detail‑oriented mindset with excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to health and safety, with NEBOSH or IOSH qualifications desirable.
  • IT proficiency, particularly with Microsoft Office applications.
