Nursery Class Teacher needed for January 2026

Monarch Education is recruiting on behalf of a school in the Brislington area for the position of an experienced Nursery Teacher. This is a full‑time, fixed‑term role commencing in January 2026.

The school is very inclusive, promoting a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere where you will be free to operate at a level of autonomy. Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible leading the nursery team and ensuring the children are settled and learning through play. There is a great outdoor space so children can explore their environment and utilise the natural environment when learning new skills. Full‑time role, starting in January and paid to scale.

Key Responsibilities
  • Curriculum Planning and Delivery:
    • Develop and deliver engaging lessons and a positive learning environment
    • Differentiate lessons to meet the diverse needs of all pupils, including those with SEND.
    • Use a variety of teaching strategies and resources to create a stimulating classroom environment.
  • Assessment and Monitoring:
    • Use a range of formative and summative assessment methods to monitor pupil progress and attainment.
    • Analyse assessment data to identify gaps in learning and plan targeted interventions.
    • Keep accurate and up‑to‑date records of pupil progress and performance.
    • Provide constructive, timely feedback to support pupils' learning journeys.
  • Classroom Management:
    • Establish and maintain a positive, safe, and well‑organised classroom environment conducive to learning.
    • Implement effective behaviour management strategies in line with school policies.
    • Promote a culture of respect, responsibility, and active participation among pupils.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work collaboratively with colleagues, including teaching assistants, other Year group teachers, and wider school staff.
    • Communicate effectively and professionally with parents and carers regarding pupil progress and well‑being.
    • Participate in staff meetings, planning sessions, and professional development activities.
  • Contribution to School Life:
    • Contribute to the wider school community, including extracurricular activities or school events.
    • Adhere to all school policies and procedures, including safeguarding and health & safety protocols.
    • Engage in ongoing professional development to continually enhance teaching practice.
Person Specification

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications, experience, and attributes:

  • Qualifications:
    • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – this is a mandatory requirement.
  • Experience:
    • Proven experience teaching within a UK primary school setting.
    • Experience teaching in Key Stage 2 is highly desirable.
    • Demonstrated ability to plan, teach, and assess the Year 3 curriculum effectively.
  • Knowledge and Skills:
    • Strong understanding of the UK National Curriculum for Year 3.
    • Knowledge of effective assessment strategies in a primary context.
    • Excellent classroom management skills.
    • Ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse learner needs.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
